This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. Drawing its roots from South Africa and first introduced in the early 19th century, the 4-8-2 or also commonly referred to as the “Mountain” type made waves when it first hit rail-ways thanks to a re-designed truck system that granted these powerful locomotives excellent stability when traversing at high speeds with passenger cars. Their practicality and reliability would not go unnoticed and the 4-8-2 quickly found itself commissioned to rail-yards across the world. The 4-8-2 has since moved on from rail-yards and now several models can be found in various museums throughout the United States. This item displays scratches and paint imperfections across the body and underframe. The tender has two broken trim pieces, one of which is completely missing. The other has been repaired with glue, and has visible adhesive residue. Spots of light surface rust are present, primarily on the underside of the tender. The rear side of the locomotive’s cab has an orange stain, and would benefit from a gentle and thorough cleaning. The original box is included. The instruction manual is not included. This item has been inspected by our repair shop. Please see the attached picture for inspection details and additional operation information. Overall condition is Very Good.
